The control unit for the handling of dangerous and toxic chemicals and biological materials is one of the important units in the university because it deals directly with the chemicals and biological materials found in the colleges and institutes of the university through the officials of the colleges and institutes and the fact that the use of these materials It has a direct impact on the health of workers in scientific laboratories as well as their impact on students. The unit is directly associated with the Assistant Rector for scientific Affairs.

To provide a safe environment for researchers and students in various scientific laboratories and follow-up of the chemical and semi-annual chemicals, the safety of laboratories and chemical stores, the way in which materials are stored and the extent to which they conform to the standard specifications.

Objectives of the Unit:

1. Organization of training courses for the purpose of identifying the hazards of chemical and biological substances, how to prevent them, and the methods of safety and security of chemicals and bio, as well as the methods of storing such materials. 2. Follow-up of educational and research laboratories and warehouses through periodic and unannounced visits and evaluation of their work through the preparation of reports containing a comprehensive assessment of the chemical and biological safety and security procedures and then to the higher authorities. 3-Preparing an emergency plan that includes evacuation of all the relevant laboratories in the Department, college or university and coordination with the security services at the university, Fire and Emergency health to prepare an integrated contingency plan in case of any accident. 4-Design and distribution of signs of indication, warning signs, safety, emergency exits, warning signs, fire signs, and how to use them, and to spread the culture of safety and chemical and biological security and to educate the university members first and then the society in general regarding safety and security Chemical and biological 5. Rehabilitation of research laboratories, primary study laboratories and chemical and biological storage facilities commensurate with the requirements of safety and chemical and bio-security.
